Angelina Jolie returns on this new action-packed film as the dashing CIA operative Evelyn Salt, who is accused of being a Russian Spy sent to kill the Russian President.
The film opens on a flashback scene 2 years ago with Evelyn Salt being hostaged and tortured while she repeatedly says the word "I'm not a spy".

As the film progress, Salt became a Federal fugitive when a defector named Vassily Orlov accused her of being a Spy that would kill the President of Russia during his visit on the funeral of the Vice President of America.

Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt's efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives.

On the middle part of the film it was revealed that Salt is really a Russian Spy and Orlov is the one who trained her.

The film reach an unexpected twist at the end when Salt's friend and a fellow CIA comrade Ted Winter appeared to be a Russian Spy too was revealed to be the one who set-up Salt.

The tag line remains "Who is Salt?"
