The teenager Darren Shan was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. With his best friend Steve always stayed out of trouble. But after going to a Circus of Horrors, he has contact with the vampire Larten Crepsley and his show, full of monstrous creatures, like a snake-boy, a werewolf, a bearded lady and a giant.
