Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Movie Review   by:Jlyn81

The long awaited conclusion of the Harry Potter series finally hits theaters. Long lines during opening weekend brings Harry Potter fans to watch the conclusion. I normally do not like watching movies during the opening weekend but for Harry Potter, I'm making an exception.

You are where you had left off in part 1, the trio are at the safe house. Harry wants to talk to the goblin Griphook (the goblin they saved) to get into Gringott's to find out what's in Beatrix Lestranges's vault. Griphook will only help if he can get Godric Gryffindor's sword. They manage to get into Gringott's by using the Imperius curse, while Ron and Hermione are in disguise. They get into Lestranges' vault and find that she was hiding a horcrux, which is Helga Hufflepuff's cup. Griphook on the other hand, betrays them and yells 'thieves"! Lesson learned, do not trust a goblin. After escaping Gringott's via dragon, Harry sees a vision that Voldemort knows of the missing horcrux and kills the goblins. Harry learns that the next horcrux is an object of Ravena Ravenclaw and it's somewhere in Hogwarts.

Getting into Hogwarts isn't going to be easy. The trio escape death eaters by the help of Dumbledore's brother, Aberforth. A passageway is reveled and the trip are reunited with Neville Longbottom. The passageway leads them to the Room of Requirement, where members of Dumbledore's Army (remember this in a previous movie) are located. In place of Dumbledore, Snape is now headmaster. Harry confronts Snape but Minerva McGonagall intervenes and fights Snape instead. Snape retreats.

McGonagall will try to give Harry time to locate the missing Ravenclaw item. One thing, no one has seen the item in a long time. Well, that's going to be tricky. While Harry locates the item, McGonagall and other Hogwarts staff create a barrier to protect the school and wait for Voldemort's strike. Without Gryffindor's sword, Ron and Hermione destroy Hufflepuff's cup with the basilisk fang. Harry on the other hand, finds that the Ravenclaw item is a diadem (or a tiara) that Voldemort had hidden and can be found in the Room of Requirement. Ron and Hermione join Harry, who are followed by Malfoy and his friends. When a fire is created, the trio escape on brooms but good hearted Harry, could not leave his enemies behind. Now that the diadem is destroyed by the fang, the last horcrux is left...Voldemort's snake Nagini. By the time they destroy the diadem, Voldemort destroys the barrier with the Elder wand. Let the fight for your life begin.

Harry looks into Voldemort's mind and found that he was at the boathouse. They make their way through the fighting to get to the boathouse, where they hear Voldemort talking to Snape. It turns out that the Elder wand doesn't recognize Voldemort as the master. Instead, the wand will only work properly for Snape, who had disarmed and killed Dumbledore with it. You know what that means. It means Snape must die. Voldemort attacks Snape then Nagini finishes the job. The trio go into the boathouse once Voldemort vanishes. Snape cries tears of memories for Harry.

The fighting ceases so that Hogwarts could bury their dead. Voldemort's message to Harry is to come to the Forbidden Forest. Before he does, Harry goes to Dumbledore's office to pour Snape's tears into the pensive. The truth about Snape is revealed, which you probably didn't see that coming (unless you read the book). As for Harry, he is actually an accidental horcrux and must die. Did that blow your mind?

Watch the final conclusion of the Harry Potter series to find out what happens to Harry. You would agree that it is a good ending. There are some laughs in the movie so it's not always so serious but it the movie keeps you glued to your seat. It is kind of sad that there are no more Harry Potter movies to look forward to now.
