City of Angels tells a story which most of the world popuation wants to believe in but probably finds it hard to do so.
At the center of the plot there is an angel who falls in love with a very talented doctor,Maggie Rice, who became doctor because of her willing to help people.She thinks that her patients' lives are under her control till someone dies while she's operaing him.Maggie loses her self confidence in healing people and falls into depression.Seth,an angel who is responsible to guide people who die into the next world watches helplessnessly Maggie,unable to diminsh her sadness.
I must say that while trying to describe what the movie is about I almost can feel what the angel felt.
The great choice of actors made this film credible although the whole story is a creation of imagination.The lead actors,Meg Ryan and Nicolas Cage,present the story with their simplicity,what gives the movie a unique tone of tenderness.
Seth starts immediately after seeing Maggie to fall in love with her. There's something very pure in his feeling toward her,he wants her to undersand that it wasn't her fault that her patient died because he knows that there's nohing she could have done to prevent his death,he knows that there are things that just meant to be and people can't control them.
As the film continues the two develop a relationship which leads Seath to an unexpectable decision.
The movie doesn't stop surprising and it is definitely worth watching.
