The Pact (2012) is about a women forced to return to her childhood home and her struggle to save herself and her believes.During this she faces her darkest fear, uncovers truth and emerges as a new person.
The Pact has almost all the qualities of a good thriller. The movie moves with a good pace and does not have a lot of characters which helps you to receive it well. Generally, in these type of movies a lot of emphasis is given on background music, specially the spookier places just to add an effect. This was not required by McCarthy since the movie had a lot to offer. There are a few questions that remain unattended in the movie, but I guess that is ok to go with.
What attracted me in this movie is that it did not emphasized on super human or heroic acts. The action and reaction of the characters are very much natural as a human being in dismay. I guess that is one reason why people might find it worthwhile to watch and easy to relate to.
The story moves around Caity Lotz and she had played her character well.
The photography (specially the eyes) is worth noticing. To most of the cases minor details were looked upon.
All in all, I am happy to see this movie and consider this a far, far better movie to watch. Give it a shot!
