Peter Parker (Tobey Mc Guire) is an ordinary youth with the normal anxieties of his age: the incomprehension, mockery by his peers and even the problems of no revealing his love to the girl of his dreams: Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). During a guided tour to a research laboratory where 13 genetically modified radioactive spiders are put on show, Peter is stung by one of the spiders causing him a change into his DNA, allowing him to awake as a new men, to be reborn so to speak. Sudenly he is able to claim walls helplessly, his vision with glasses afected before now is panoramic and his strength now is supernatural. Besides, he discovers that he is able to shoot web from his wrist.
But everything has a purpose, and it is when he realizes he has been given this power when he remembers his uncle''s saying " A great power involves a great responsability". In order to win the heart of Mary Jane, Peter participates in a fight against a big man and when the announcer says his fighters nickname, he forgets what Peter had said to him and he improvises calling him the "Spider Man". However, now that he is a Superhero, he should face the green Goblin (Willhem Defoe), a mad cientist that discovers a flying board and an adapted custom that he uses to do every sort of wicked things. The confrontation between the Spider Man and the Green Goblin shows the great skills of the spider man but also exhibit the wickedness of the Green Goblin. Nonetheless, his best friend is his enemy''s son.
This film shows us a different facet is the work of Tobey Mc Guire who had represented a writer in the movie "Wonder Boys", where his participation was not so brilliant, now it is on the amazin Spider Man where we can see a real change in his image.
