Magic Mike is a movie revolving around a group of male strippers. Mike (Channing Tatum) is the star stripper owned by Dallas (Matthew McConaughey). He lives a fabulous life as a struggling entrepreneur who wants to open up a business with the funds he earns from dancing. He meets The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) and takes him under his wing. They have a good time as buddies and have great success as dancers. Complications start to arise when Mike starts to fall for The Kid's sister. More issues surface as The Kid gets involved with the wrong people and illegal activities.
The dance numbers are inventive and provocative. While they show a lot of skin, the viewers will be amazed by the skills displayed and not simply aroused by the sexual detail. The movie is mainly for female viewers, but the males can also pick up a few tricks that they can use in their day to day encounters.
The movie was made mainly for entertainment purposes. You will be sorely disappointed if you try to look for depth and substance. The plot is simple and there are no twists that would bring you to the edge of your seat. The romantic angle is also non-conventional as the movie features a female character who is surprisingly open minded and devoid of any jealous traits. All you need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the visuals. You can probably imagine that you are just on a night out with your girlfriends and happen to drop by a stripping club.
