Sounds of the Sixties is a radio programme on BBC Radio 2 which features songs popular by artists who I believe are 60 somethings and were hits in the 1960s. Apparently the Liverpool Lady Cilla Black is celebrating her birthday in May and the link is with the famous Beatles also a popular 1960s group who later went on to "take the world" and led to the International success of these sixties groups.
Jimmy Hendrix is regarded as Sounds of the Sixities and I remember seeing Hendrix on the guitar in the 60s in London and he was jamming with the band on the stage.
As far as the 1960s is concerned its an interesting point to note that a lot of Sixties sounds were greatly influenced by the rock music of the 50s and I was watching "Imagine" DVD and even John Lennon the famous Beatle was influenced by Elvis Presley who was dare I say it ... 1950s and 1960s.
Legendary writers and rock stars include Bob Dylan .... whose Isle of Wight Concert I also attended in that legendary period but I was keen to listen in to this Sounds of the Sixties programme as its an nostalgic walk down memory lane and enjoyable listening .. great work!
