Achieved the reputation as far as Europe monsterband Lordi was formed in 1996. The leader of the band "Mr. Lordi" Tomi Putaansuo is from Finland Rovaniemi. Inspired by the band Kiss Putaansuo began to put together the band that appears in the mask and which there also are really impressive platform effects. The band was named by the leader artist`s name. The band's original line up was a trio of Tommi putaansuo "Mr. Lordi (singer), Jussi Sydänmaa "Amen" (guitar) ja Sami Keinänen "G-Stealer" (bass). 1997 joined the band Erna Siikavirta (keyboard). In 1999, the "G-Stealer" left the band and was replaced by Sami Wolking "Magnum". In 2000 Sampsa Astala "Kita" joined in the band.
Their first single was released in 2002 and was named Would you love a monsterman?
In the autumn of 2002 bassist Magnum separated from the personal reasons and was replaced by Niko Hurme "Kalma"
Lordi played their first gig 12/08/2002. in Helsinki. In 2003 Lordi won an Emmy award for best domestic hard rock / heavy metal album. The band traveled to gigs abroad. Lordi also made some of the Night Wish-gigs with the band the band's warm-up.
In the spring of 2005 Lordi began a European tour "european monstour" which arose from the published compilation "the monter show". End of the tour, the band separated keyboardist Enary due to disagreements between members. Later that year, the bassist Kalma left the band. The band was replaced by a new bassist Samer OX" el nahhal and singer Leena Peisa "Awa".
In 2006, the Lordi agreed to represent the Finnish Eurovision Song Contest and took the victory with a song Hard Rock Hallelujah.After that the band began to be made a lot of merchandise and the band received a lot of marketers. Lordi also began a tour Bringing Back The Balls To Europe and was a headliner at MTV Europe Music Awards. In spring 2007, emma-gala band was awarded five times. 2008 was the premiere of horror film Dark Floors, which was the Lordi´s ideas. In 2010 the band changed drummer. A new drummer has artist name Otus.
The band members have never appeared in public without the costumes. A newspaper published a picture of the band's leader Tomi Putaansuo and later, under pressure from the general public had to ask his forgiveness.
