Radio is a form of media in which
sound frequencies are used to reach the audience. In a radio, one can only hear
the speaker and not see it. One of the most famous radio anchors is Anees
Bazmee, whose voice created a revolution in the radio world. We met him when we
were studying media in college. There is a charisma in his voice which is so
relaxed, calm and equally heavy. Those days just a few channels came on the
radio.
Today with the DTH revolution,
radio has kept up with the competition. Many good FM channels are available
today namely, 91.10, 92.70, 93.50, 94.30, 98.30, 100.70, 104.00, 104.80,
107.10. These have made music more interesting as so many songs in Hindi,
English and regional languages are available for the entertainment of the
radio. Late night and afternoon songs are of old films. A program named ‘Purani
Jeans’ to hear to and forget our stresses. They say music has a great soothing
energy which relaxes the soul and mind.
It is very economical to buy a
radio. It is the most universal appeal as it is easily affordable. Apart from
the expensive music systems to a simple radio, it can be bought by every being.
The latest technology has brought in I-pod and all mobiles these days have
radio. So, children these days carry it readily. Travelling has become less
tiresome with music available on so many mediums these days.
Malishka is a very popular name
on a FM channel. She speaks in a manner which is captivating and equally
bubbly. The energy level is positive. There are many other good anchors these
days. FM channels have surely put Doordarshan radio on the back seat but it is
still running and active.
