Sounds of the 7os

Article Review   by:SM THOMPSON

I rarely tune into the Johnny Walker Programme on BBC Radio2 so Sunday was the exception and I found to my delight they were presenting a series of songs and tunes on the theme of 7Os music which means that all the songs
that were popular during that decade are played under this theme: ...... so I listened for a bit and enjoyed the selection and it was a surprise to hear Giles Coren Journalist read his sounds of the 7Os: he is keen on BLONDIE and even though in the 7Os he was a small child he still nevertheless loves to recall what songs he heard during that glorious period of popular music: apparently his mother is a Jew and he repeated like all jews she is also a DOCTOR and so during that period she was very busy at work and his dad was Alan Coren Editor I believe of PUNCH
magazine and he also was very busy so he had a nanny as both his parents were at work during that wonderful decade of the 7Os: Giles Coren said that he streaked across the garden thru the hose and obviously cooled off a bit so he must have been tall enough to reach the spray even though he was a mere child in the 7Os

Retrospectively this decade of music known as the 7Os was a period of great sounds and the music flows on on the Johnny Walker Show so its pleasant to recall the music of the era and in particular of the 7Os:

During the 7Os I and family were based in Geneva Switzerland and also in San Francisco United States of
America so during all the going in and out of the UK there was little time to wallow in sounds of the 7Os so its a pleasant reminder and a reinforcement of the music of that decade:

Needless to say I was at work in the UK and so much so that I went to College for 3 years and then another
postgraduate year but I overran into the beginning of the 8Os and finished the total qualifications in 1981 which is
over 3O years ago or thereabouts and I taught for 25 years full time so its thanks to Giles Coren on the Johnny Walker Show for giving us time for reflection on sounds of the 7Os! Great work pays UP! :
