Young Frankenstein Musical

Personal Experience Review   by:Jlyn81

Yesterday afternoon, my brother, husband I went to the Golden Gate Theater to watch the 'Young Frankenstein' musical. I didn't know what to expect out of the musical but my husband knew of the movie so I thought it would be interesting to watch. I've never watched Mel Brook's shows either.

The musical had a lot of comic relief, especially from 'Igor'. As my husband would say, 'Igor' stole the show, with all his funny sayings and gestures. The strobe lights did bother me (goes to show that I haven't been to the clubs in a long time) but during a dance number with strobe lights in the scene 'A Theatre in Transylvania' was one of the best numbers in the musical. The musical isn't for young children under 12 due to the some inappropriate gestures and sayings. The music and singing was good. It was fun watching the monster sing and dance when they were singing 'Puttin' on the Ritz'. I don't know how the dancers can tap dance in those platform shoes so I applaud them for that.

All throughout the musical, I was entertained and laughing. I wasn't bored at all. You could hear everyone laughing and applauding after every scene. It was that enjoyable to watch. I've only recently started watching musicals and I can say that 'Young Frankenstien' is my second favorite (the other is 'Wicked').  If you haven't seen this musical, I suggest you go watch it. I believe that you will love it as much as I did.
