The crime of the Aramberri street

Book Review   by:bengaly     Original Author: Hugo Valdez Manriquez

This abstract was translated from El crimen de la calle de Aramberri

The famous house of Aramberri, where at night pedestrians run terrifed when the listen to the screaming moans, when they see or think they see ghostly figures by the windows... the excitment for this story is so big that some people simply pass by to see somenthing about what people say...without knowing the true story that happened at this address.[BR]Aramberri street #1026, Col. Centro, Monterrey, N.L.[BR]April 5, 1933.[BR] In this book we can find the story for the detective in charge, its in third person and he recounts that ocurred that day at 6:00 am where Florencia Montemayor and Antonia Lozano lost their lives where two of their relatives in complicity with some butchers kill them for steal some currencies of gold and silver.[BR]Murdered and one of them raped in front of their relatives, was a crime to a magnitud for the year of 1933 was too serious.[BR]There weren''t any clues about who, how or why had this happened..... until one day a boy who had seen and heard everything painted a red path from the Aramberri''s house door to the Butcher''s shop''s door[BR] When the butchers were arrested, they immediately denied the facts and blamed the 2 relatives from the Montemayor family, Fernando and Heliodoro who confessed the crime alleging that the butchers had participated more, because one of them raped their cousin and that the butchers committed the murder.[BR]Although the burchers denied everything, the police noticed that the 2 women had the neck cut in an impressive way, because their heads were only sticking to the trunk by the back neck..... that means that the cuts were made by people who know how to do it: a doctor or a butcher.
[BR][BR]So they could not deny the facts. They say that these people were given the "flight law" which consists on let them run and shot them on the back, but in this book the auther says that they took them vacated part of Zuazua, got them off the car and that they shoot 2 of them from a distance, one of them, Gabriel (the butcher mastermind), the other one was El Ciego (The blind) who was the driver and obviously was guilty too. The other ones maybe tried to run hoping that no bullet will reach them but unfortunately for them, that did not happened, and they died right there.[BR][BR]Their bodies were exhibited for the people at Juan Ignacio Ramon street, when it was not a street yet, it was a garden, and they were exposed so that all ....people from the town of Monterrey, because they wanted to know who were the 2 women''s murderers.[BR][BR]I liked this author''s book although from my point of view, I think he did not investigate enough about the family''s lives before they were killed.[BR][BR]That''s why its said that the women can be heard shouting for help or saying "don''t kill me Gabriel, don''t kill me" from the house''s windows. And they say the house is hunted because their souls have not rested in peace.
