How I Met Your Mother is the story of a girl and a boy falling in love told by Ted Mosby(played by Josh Radnor) from beginning to end. The story is told to his children in a narrator-like style. The main characters include Marshall Eriksen (played by Jason Segel), Robin Scherbatsky (played by Cobie Smulders), Barney Stinson (played by Neil Patrick Harris), and Lily Aldrin (played by Alyson Hannigan)The place where the sitcom is shot is mostly New York. A lot of the scenario happens in a bar called just "the bar" and in Marshall and Lily's apartment which is in the same building with the bar. The plot is not telling Marshall and Lily's story because when they are married the series continues to tell the story of Ted Mosby. Through it's five seasons the series has won several nominations and awards including People's Choice Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Teen Awards and Emmy Awards. The show was renewed in 2010 and a sixth season is expected to run in 2010 and 2011 starting from September, 2010. The plot of the series is mainly inspired by this idea "let's write about our friends and the stupid stuff we did in New York".
