Romanticality is the theme for the ninth episode of The Glee Project, and the homework song is “More Than Words” by Extreme.
The guest mentor for this week is Darren Criss, who plays Blaine Anderson on Glee. When the contestants finish singing, Criss chooses Blake as the challenge winner.
The group number is “We Found Love” by Rihanna. Robert J. Ulrich tells the contestants that the concept for the video is that they are high school students in detention on the weekend. The teacher will leave the room and they contestants will find different areas of the school to be romantic. This means that the contestants will be paired up again. Since Blake is the challenge winner, he will get to choose who he will be paired with. He chooses Ali since he paired up with her for the challenge. Aylin and Shanna will be paired together and Michael and Lily will be together.
In the vocal booth, Shanna has difficulty getting the correct tone of the song. Michael hits his notes the first time around as well as Lily. Ali also hits her notes while Blake struggles with the harmonies of his lines.
During the video shoot, Erik White tells Aylin and Shanna that he wants them to get away from acting so that he, along with the viwers, can feel their connection. But as they continue, Zach Woodlee, Robert J. Ulrich and Nikki Anders feel as though they are just dancing.
Shanna, Blake and Aylin are chosen to do last chance performances in front of Ryan Murphy. Blake will sing “Losing My Religion” by REM, Aylin will sing “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack, and Shanna will sing “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson.
When the Call Back list is posted, Shanna finds herself on the Not Called Back list, leaving five contestants to fight for the seven spot episodes on Glee.
