Smoking And Giving Up If you are or have been a smoker you will know it is such a difficult habbit to kick
that you need all the help you can get. Here are my tips to finally breaking the habit. 1) Tip 1 - Start first thing in the morning before you reach for that first puff. You will have been asleep so the amount of nicotine in your body should be at a minimum. 2) Tip 2 - Avoid places where you naturally feel like smoking. For example in a pub, club or restaurant. This may mean putting your social life on hold for the short-term but think of the long-term effects. 3) Tip 3 - Try doing more exercise. You will naturally feel lethargic as the lack of nicotine will mean your body isn't having the effect of speeding up your metabolism. So taking up exercise may help you feel fitter and help combat the slowing body. 4) Tip 4 - Avoid the caffeine drinks. You dont want to replace one drug for another. They will give you a feeling of a faster metabolism too, which is the same effect as smoking. Better to aim for a more healthy regime overall as there is a temptation to eat more. 5) Tip 5 - Drink water and eat fruit. This an ideal replacement for the cigarette. Once again helping your diet and avoid overeating. 6) Tip 6 - Remember that the first week is the hardest so take it a day at a time. But it does get easier as more time passes.
You may get lapses when you crave a cigarette but don't give in. You need to resist these temptations because you cannot control the addiction, so one will lead to another and another. Just say no to the first cigarette.
