The Effect Study of Thermal-Mechanical Cycle on Fe-Mn- Si-Cr-Ni Shape Memory Effect Alloy

Article Abstract by: TsingHua

Original Author: Journal of Functional Materials
The effect of thermal-mechanical cycle on shape memory effect of Fe-18Mn-5Si-8Cr-4Ni shape memory alloy has
b een studied. The results show that the shape recovery ratio at quench ing temperature 1023K or 1123K increases as the cycle number increa ses, when the technique of thermal-mechanical cycle is 4.33% deformatio n and 923K middle annealing. The shape recovery ratio at 923K or 1323 K also increases with increasing the cycle number, when the number is lower than 3 and 2,respectively.A maximum value can be attained at 3 and 2 respectively. With the further increase in the cycle numbe r,the shape recovery ratio will decrease. However,a maximum shape recover y ratio,88%,can be attained through the thermal-mechanical cycle, when the quenching temperature is 1123K; when the temperature is 1323K,the e ffect of the cycle on shape recovery ratio is the greatest, the maximu m value after the cycle is higher 68% than the value before the cy cle;when the quenching temperature is 923K,the effect of the cycle on shape recovery ratio is the lowest, the maximum value after thermal- mechanical cycle is higher only 11% than the value before the cycle.
