SPLIT drill is a kind of advanced drill style and has got broad application in productions.The compound
material is a hard machning material.In view of the advantages of SPLIT drill,it is a meaningful job to let the SPLIT drill be applied to the processing of compound materials and to carrying out the optimization on parameter of drill construction and parameter of machining.For this reason,the mathematical model is firstly being established,and go on edge grinding.The parametric optimization is advanced afterwards through carrying on drilling test on a high speed drilling experimantal banch.This paper established the mathematical model of SPLIT drill basing on the involute cylindrical surface,and conducted real edge grinding.The involute cylindrical surface possesses five parameters of edge grinding and is formed by adding a feed movement perpendicular to the axis of drill based on the edge grinding of cylindrical surface.This paper uses the envelope principle to build the mathematical model of rear edge surface of the involute cylindrical blank,and start from the point of view of simplifying the structure of machine tool one of the parameters is set to be fixed.
