Grinding mill is an important equipment for material processing and the liner is a critical component of the mill, whose wear-ability will determine the grinding efficiency and cost of the powder processing. The austenitic manganese steel liner has the disadvantages of poor work hardening effect, low wear-resistance, short life-span and needing frequent replacement. Tungsten resource is plentiful in China, tungsten alloy white cast iron liner has been developed and the tungsten is used as main alloy element. Having great brittleness, the liner of tungsten alloy white cast iron is easily fractured in application. Based on research of effects of potassium and sodium on the structure and properties of tungsten alloy white cast iron, the results show that eutectics carbide will turn into fracturing network or nodular form from original network by means of potassium and sodium modification, which the carbide is refined and evenly distributed. Because of the improvement of carbide shape and even distribution, the impact toughness and wear-resistance of tungsten alloy white cast iron are greatly increased. The white cast iron mill liner combined with inoculating tungsten alloy is safer and reliable in application of powder processing and the life-span is three times more than that of austenitic manganese steel liner.
