A Study on the Legend of Yin's Going on a Punitive Expedition to Xihe

Recorded in Yinzheng, one chapter of the fake Book of Documents in ancient writing, the famous legend about Yin's going on
a punitive expedition to Xihe stems from the writing of Prologue of the Book of Documents and the Basic Annals of Xia Dynasty of Shiji. It is believable that Shiji says this story happened in the period of Emperor Zhongkang of Xia Dynasty, but it would be wrong that the fake Book of Documents says that it is Xia Emperor Zhongkang who ordered Yin to go on a punitive expedition to Xihe. That is because the two Xia Emperors, Zhongkang and Xiang, actually did not rule Xia Dynasty at all after King Houyi of the Eastern Yi Clan expelled Emperor Taikang and usurped the power of Xia Dynasty. It could be possible that the story of Yin's going on punitive expedition to Xihe should be another historical edition of the myth that King Houyi ever shot the ten suns. There are three similar aspects about these two stories, which are the same subject matters, the same times and the same characters. Moreover, from the view point of the political situation of that time, the story of Yin's going on a punitive expedition to Xihe may just described a war happened between the two political groups, which are King Houyi ruling group and the members of the former Xia Clan ruling group who don't want to submit to the usurper.
