Objective To compare HPLC-FPS of three species of
Radix Scutellariae from different regions.Methods The chromatograms of
the fingerprints of
Radix Scutellariae were developed by HPLC.Hierarchical clustering analysis was performed for classification of samples with relative peak areas as the chemical variable and the similarity of the whole HPLC chromatogram was analyzed with a computer-aided program.Result Tested samples were divided into five categories by hierarchical clustering analyses, S.
baicalensis Georgi, S.amoena C.H.Wright and S.rehderiana Diels were each in one category,and two samples of S.viscidula Bge.were in two categories.The similarities of S.baicalensis Georgi samples of different sources were bigger than 0.95 which indicated a great similarity,while the S.amoena C.H.Wright shows some differences in the chomatogram of the fingerprints.Conclusion The method can be used to differentiate Radix Scutellariae of different species,and provide some useful information for quality evaluation.
