An investigation into the process parameters and induration mechanism of thermal hardening for making acid
titanium bearing
pellets were carried out. It has been revealed that under the conditions of preheating at 950 ℃,
roasting at 1 200 ℃ and durations of preheating and roasting respectively for 15 minutes, acid
titanium bearing oxide pellets assaying total Fe 58.56% and TiO 2 7.89% were manufactured successfully. The compressive strength reaches 3127 Newton per pellet, their main metallurgical properties are as follows: RI 70.8%, RDI -3.15 7.29%, swelling index 15.27%, pellet softening temperature range from beginning to finish at 1 080~1 170 ℃, all of which can meet the needs of protection and a charge for large and middle scale blast furnaces. Like that of ordinary pellets from magnetite concentrates, the induration of titanium bearing pellets depends on the recrystallization and solid phase diffusion of hematite. The making of the acid titanium bearing pellets is not only favorite to prolonging campaign life and modifying the burden structure of blast furnace, but also finds an effective way for utilization of vanadium titanomagnetite concentrate. <
