Multi-step forming and sectional forming technology are the common use forming method in multi-point forming. Multi-step forming runs up to the final shape by distortion of each step while sectional forming runs up to the final shape by distortion of each region of sheet metal. Both of the two forming method can optimize the distortion path of sheet metal and make its distortion more equably. So the two forming method can restrain wrinkle effectively and can improve the distortion capacity of sheet metal. Under the two forming method, the analyse and finite element numerical simulation of multi-point forming process for dish head are carried out. Due to the numerical simulation of its forming process, the forming rule of multi-step forming and sectional forming for dish head are studied. Finally multi-point forming process for dish head is made and the forming tests are done. The result shows that dish head can be primely shaped with multi-point equipment under the appropriate forming process.
