The word “Film” refers to the chronological sequence of motion pictures putting the impression of movement of contents

of pictures in human mind through eyes. This word has come in use from photographic film (also called film stock) which is the primary medium for recording and playing motion pictures. Some additional terminologies are also used for film such as big screen, silver screen, cinema video and movie.
The process of making a film is the art of science. Before a film making starts some other arrangements are also required to make a traditional entertaining film such as story/plot, dialogue/screen play, characterization/ cast and of course so many other things. There are some essential roles required for a film like Director, Producer, Story Writer, Screen Play Writer, Actors, Poets, Musicians, Singers, coordinators, Assistants, Camera man, Editing / Dubbing Engineers, Animators, Dance Masters etc. The traditional way of producing a film is to take snap through a video camera. A person who operates camera (known as camera man) records the scene in the tape mounted inside the camera. Once the process of taking snaps is completed editing process starts (by editing engineers) in which some scenes are deleted and arranged in a way as mentioned in the story of film. Today some new technologies are also involved in making a film such as inclusion of animation and special video effects which are also known as ‘post production’. The recorded film consists of a series of individual picture frames when executed in succession gives the illusion of motion to the viewer due to persistence of vision in which eye retains the visual image for a fraction of a second (normally 1/16 second) after the previous visual image has been removed. The human mind perceives this phenomenon as moving the contents of the pictures in a sequence giving the sense that ‘a film is playing’.
The primary purpose of making a film is entertainment but due to the power of visualization in film it has become the most powerful media setting the new media trends worldwide. Today film is not only a mean of entertainment but is also use to create new trends in society particularly in fashion and cultural norms. Being the powerful weapon in media, film is used to change the public opinion in global issues but can also create new controversies on religious and political issues. Overall film is attracted by every person of any age, sex, religion, nationality because of its immense powerful visualization sense and glamour.
As human societies are growing and advancing with time, the film has become more than a film as was considered in recent past. Now film is not limited to a big screen of cinema with a traditional film concept but has become the integral part of modern daily used instruments. Now in medical instruments, films are made during / before complicate heart operations to educate medical students and to judge the proficiency of medical team. Similarly the process inside the court of law are recorded to keep the history of case for future references and even films are made during the war to update the world about current situation and for history as well. Film is traveling from the big cinema screen to small television screen and to computer screen and even today one can see a small movie in one’s cell phone with capturing features. The days are not far when a film / movie will become an integral part of our daily life like a pen, calculator or a watch. 21st century is referred to as a century of telecommunication and film as a media is proving its power of influence over society for communication and entertainment as well.
