This study explored the possibility of using tsitsirika(Catharanthus roseus) as an insecticide against cockroaches, houseflies and ants.A leaf extract of tsitsirika was prepaired by macerating the leaves, adding enough water to the macerated leaves and soaking overnight and filtering. The extract was sprayed onto the test insects.Result showed that the extract is toxic to the three test species and that the percentage morality increased with greater concentation of the leaf extract.Insect pest have been one man''s most serious problems since prehistoric times. Insects became greater nuisance as areas under cultivation grew and increased. This is true not only in farmlands but in residencial sectors as well. The increasing problems posed by insects is due to increasing population and decreasing space for dwelling. To control the number of insects pests, commercial insecticides are applied in farmlands and in many households. This has resulted in growing the problem of environmental polution. The wanton use of these chemical has caused streams, soil, and air to become polluted, thus endangering the lives of plants, animals and humans.
