Know what you want, take action to get it, evaluate the results and modify the action
as necessary-it sums up the subject What you want? Wealth? Fame? Peace? Happiness? Powerful position? Secure your children’s Future? Say, you desire wealth. How much do you want? How do you intend to accumulate it? What is your definite plan? If it is fame, do you want to be known locally, nationally or internationally? How do you intend to be famous? If you want Peace and Happiness, Do you know how to achieve it? If it is health, are you willing to control food, exercise and keep yourself purposefully engaged always? If you desire a powerful position, chose a suitable line, the title and salary. Once you set your aim, you can break it down into a. Short term goal-( 2- 5 years) b. Medium term goals say for 6-10 years c. Long term goal 11-15 years Nobody can get the whole thing in a single shot. Then decide what you will give in return. There is no principle called ‘something for nothing.’ What you intend to give in return will vary according to the level of your goals. The higher the goal the greater will have to be your input. It need not be physical hard work or anything like that. But you will have to focus your mind on your objective like a laser beam. If the goal is an ordinary one there is no need for this sort of an exercise. When your aim is high, greater should be the intensity of your desire and you will have to keep the goal all the time with you until it becomes a full-fledged belief. The effort to create belief is your real input. The rest happens automatically. Your subconscious mind will then lead and guide you. So aim high! The sky is the limit. Listen to what Theodore Roosevelt says: “It is better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs,….than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much.. Your goal should be something you will enjoy. It should be practical but high. There will be setbacks. Higher the goal greater will be their frequency and intensity. Remember successful people have more failures than the average ones. Make a goal statement which will consist of your target, the period and what you will give in return. Suppose you want a million dollars in about 5 years, your goal statement can be: By the first day of January 2013, I am having in my possession a million dollars . In return for this I am giving my mind, my soul, my full energy and every single second of my time. Keep Looking for a concrete plan. which should be finalized after due analysis. Set targets for regular intervals. Periodically review the status of progress. If there are flaws, take the required corrective steps. Suppose your aim is to become a sales manager in 5 years’ time from now, you should know the criteria for selection for that post and how to meet them. You should try to get promoted to the next higher position and then the next in the available time you have set apart for each
intermediate step. Get any additional qualification or skill required. The typed goal statement should be pasted where it will catch your attention, say, on the bedroom wall or below the glass top of your desk. Bring this to your mind just before sleeping and just after getting up. Live for a minute in a state after having achieved your aim. Feel happy and proud. Your goal should become the predominant thought of your mind. When your brain concentrates on anything like a laser beam it manifests itself. Remember your state of mind should be one of belief and not one of desire. Creation of a state of mind called belief is essential for the achievement of any worthwhile goal. When you keep any thought in your conscious mind allthe time and if you visualize what you want as already achieved it turns into an absolute faith.
