In a simple and in an easily understandable language, the Rama Rao the author of this book penetrates
in to the core of Biochemistry, here he is difining the grammar of the subject in a coherent way.  The book is truly for medical students, and for those who like to have an indepth knowledge about this most vibrant subject of modern sciences.  Rama Rao adopted the conventional and the traditional method of characterizing, the food constituents, describing their formulae, their properties and their place in human biological and chemical reactions.  Here the author stressed the need for the medical student to possess a thorough knowledge of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry as the basis  and prerequisite for the study of biochemistry.  Really a Bible for the students of biochemistry world over.
The chapters on Biostatistics, carbohydrates, proteins, viruses and oncogenesis and RNA synthesis are described, in a rational way.  Students can gulped the sophisticated ways of biochemistry easily and can go ahead for new inventions, really this book will motivate students. The chemistry of the living matter is exlained thoroughly in a lucid style. Historical significance of the subject has given due importance.  The chapter six, "Nucleic Acids and Nucleoproteins", begins with the sentance,''Nucleoproteins are conjugated proteins having nucleic acids as their prosthetic groups'', extablishes the versatility of the writer, and he is using words to convey this fascinating subject and not to confuse the readers.
The histroy of biochemistry can be traced back to the origin of organic chemistry and also the root of biochemistry rests in the organic chemistry.  The contribution of scientists from Paracelsus to Jacob and Monod are explained comprehensively.
