This chapter discusses a key dimension of WASTEnomics – that of addressing the sustainable waste management practices and education.This chapter reviews the waste management practices and the issue of sustainable development in Nigeria. It was discovered that mainly, private sector participation, highway managers, local government and Lagos State Waste Management Authority are responsible for the collection and disposal of all types of waste generated in Lagos State. While in term of solid waste, only three dumpsites (erroneously refer to as landfills) exist in Lagos State, while all the closed dumpsites are still being used illegally among several other illegal dumpsites that adorn the landscape. It was also discovered that most of the industries if not all in Isolo Industrial Environment of Lagos State has no pollution abatement programme for their effluent, during the course of study, it was also discovered that Lagos Lagoon alone is estimated to absorb 10,000M3 of industrial effluent daily.
