Religions

Article Abstract by: varghese

Original Author: Prof. P.A.Varghese

Religious beliefs of one kind or another have always been with man. Diverse faiths have made him distrustful
of one another. Fights, battles and wars have been fought throughout history for upholding one’s faith. Even today religious and tensions abound in the world and a lot of crimson blood is shed in the name of a god one believes in. Religions have been the biggest single reason for all the wars fought so far.
Well, has it done any good to humanity? May be it psychologically gave solace to face scarcity, hardships of all kind, natural calamities, epidemics, pestilences and endure pain and forget the fleetingness of this existence. Of course moral codes have evolved under the guise of religious authority. Commandments were formulated and implemented in the name of tribal gods. It was easy to make people adhere to them because their god had commanded it. Over the course of centuries these ‘don’ts’ and ‘do’s became the backbone of morality and they were later accepted as the universal codes for human conduct or behavior.
There are blatant differences in these codes and in the way of worship and in the nature of the gods themselves. Adherence to one god or another compartmentalized mankind and it created distrust of another sect leading to strife and fights.
Even with all these evident facts, modern  people, by far, are believers of one religion or another. The conditioning of human brain over millions of years cannot be erased in an year or two. A deprogramming is on the way. Let all religions melt into one and let all gods fuse together and let humanity live in peace.
But this is improbable until man understands how religions sprouted and grew. Or how they enslave his super-computer, the brain. It is amply clear to all that if a child is not programmed to believe in a particular religion from its birth  itself he will not become a believer at all. But the parents think it is their duty to make him believe. Well that is the way their thoughts are conditioned.
Well, there be the freedom for all to choose what one wants!. If later one feels the need for religious belief let him embrace it.
Anyway, the understanding of the origins of the religious phenomena will help all to live in peace and love and shred off hatred and mistrust to one another.
I invite you to read my articles on the “the origins of religious phenomena.’
