Neuro Linguistic program(NLP)

Book Abstract by: varghese

Original Author: Prof.p.A.Varghese
NLP was developed in the early 1970S by Richard Brandler and  John Grinder. Neuro here stands for brain, linguistics
language –both verbal and non-verbal communication-and programming refers to behavioral and thinking patterns.   They wanted to know how people influence one another. They also researched into the possibility of  behavior duplication of highly successful people using technology form behavioral psychology, linguistics and information science. As a team they tried to unlock the secrets of effective communication and behavior.
NLP studies  how we know what we know and how we do what we do. It examines the relationship between thoughts, communication and behavior  It also studies the origin and structure of knowledge. Using its techniques we will be able to explore how people organize their thinking process, beliefs and behaviors enabling us to replicate the skills and capabilities if certain areas
NLP aims at changing or unpacking the way we do things. .   NLP helps us to interpret  minimal cues that indicate specific kinds of thought process like eye-movements, certain gestures, change of voice, tone, pupil dilation, skin color change and so on.   .
How does NLP help?   If someone has spent years developing a particular capability, we can, with the use of NLP, build a description as to how  the capability is actuated. We can then replicate the patterns of organization that make up their mental process and thus the same skills can be transferred to others. Thus the latter will be able to learn those skills far more rapidly than would be normally possible.
A very successful trader getting a high return on trade was modeled by the trainers of NLP His average was 70% return per annum for the past 7 years or so. They were able to learn how he made effective trading decisions and other patterns of his trade. The other traders were coached to proceed in similar lines and they too increased their returns.
There are some postulates of NLP which are worth mentioning.   The ability to change the process by which we experience a reality is more valuable than changing the content of our experience of the reality. It is essential to know how we experience a reality.
“The map is not the territory.”  Your experience of a  reality has a lot to do with your personality.   All distinction we make concerning our environment and our behavior originate throughj the visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory (concerning smell) and gustatory (regarding the sense of taste) senses.
The resources an individual needs in order to effect a change are already within him. One needs to reorient his thought patterns and mental experiences to succeed in any thing.. The internal and external  communication has to be changed too. There is positive worth in each individual which can be maximized.
Te meaning of communication is in the response you get. It becomes successful when the desired result is brought about.
There is a positive intention motivating every human behavior. Every behavior has to be studied in its context to find out its value.
All failures are only feedbacks. All results and behaviors are achievements in a sense. They may not be the desired outcome for a given task. By analyzing the feedback and changing  suitably  the desired results can be achieved.
