An individual or society will try to come up only when they believe it is possible to do so. No one else
–let it one’s own close relative, the society or the
government- can uplift another without one’s own individual longings and intense desires and efforts . The efforts for betterment must come from within. This is amply demonstrated in the house where one brother has gone abroad and made himself rich. The other one who preferred to stay back and pull on doing odd things does not improve his financial status irrespective of the helps that he receives form the brother abroad. Enrichment should come from within.
This is possible only when people believe that no one is destined to poverty or sickness. They should not think that there is a restraining factor from above which pulls them down to perpetual misery. The majority of population of the developed nations understand that they make what they are, that they make their own destiny.
Societies which believed in fatalism or pre-destiny have not come up. If everything is pre-ordained one’s efforts will not bring any fruit and hence there is no point I trying. Is it one of the main reasons why the majority of Indians are still poor? The belief in Karma or rebirth has pulled them back. This has imparted a mind set which tends to accept anything that comes with passivity, They do not challenge their fate, instead they resign to it. It is important that all of us understand that no one is doomed to poverty and
suffering,.
Regardless of one’s home conditions, IQ society or government every one has the power within himself to succeed. The only essential requirement is one’s brain. But all of us have much more. We are physically fit, all our sense are functioning and above all we are educated. Stephen Hawking has become the greatest living scientist with all his physical problems. He cannot stand, walk or lie down or even move an eyelid. He is helped by a team of nurses just to carry on with dressing, lying down, eating, for everything. His brain alone is intact. Still he has risen up. Helen Keller was blind, deaf and mute ..Still she educated herself and wrote so many books and inspired the blind and the crippled to come up in life Anyone can…
The government has a big role to play here. The entire communication media can be used to educate the masses of India. Every poor Indian –over 400 millions- must be made aware that he can progress with his own mental efforts. That there is nothing that destines anyone. This life is not decided by the karma of the previous life. No one is doomed to poverty or misery.
Success is one’s birth right. If you believe I can come up if I try you will. The mental orientation has to be changed first. If the organizations which extend aid to the suffering masses could do something to alter the poor people’s thoughts and beliefs!
Karma induces a passivity and this sets in inertia and a lazy, submissive programming. This mind set can be changes only with a deprogramming and then a re-programming. Without changing the thought terns and beliefs no substantial improvement will take place. Why not the international organizations take heed of this naked truth? Material helps will not alter the situation; it may give a temporary relief only.
