Nobody can even know what tomorrow will be. Nobody can precisely predict how the next second would turn out to be. How can then anyone know how life will be after 1000 years? Funny right?
You are probing into life after ten centuries—3650000 days! Anything can
happen in the interim.
Will
man be there on this planet? Will life be there?
Why not?
They have been here for over a billion years. (More than 1000
million years) So why should anyone assume a premature oblivion? Any species get a lot of time to evolve and perfect itself. Well
humans have taken millions of years to get to what they are today. There is no reason to assume that they will go extinct.
Will there be a catastrophe like the one that occurred a few million years back which made all the dinosaurs go extinct? There are so may asteroids hovering around. Many of them are colliding into tone another. An aberration from their orbit can bring then close to earth and a big collision can theoretically happen. But the chances are very less. If a rock piece of sufficient size (so as not to get melted off as it enters the earth’s atmosphere) comes into earth? Well, the aftermath of such a collision will be disastrous and life threatening. But it is a distant possibility only --may be one in a million chance. And it does not deserve to make us worried. Such collisions must be very rare. Otherwise it would not have been possible for the evolution of such highly intelligent species. So, man is going to be there.
What about you and me? There are scientists who believe that life expectancy may dramatically increase to 1000 years or more very soon. Ageing is a physical phenomenon happening to our bodies and hence it is possible to address the issue as we overcome so many
deadly diseases today. There are strategies to repair all the types of molecular and cellular damage that happen to us over time. They are already working in mice and it will be only a couple of years before they are working in humans. When we undergo such treatment we will no longer get frail and decrepit nor will we succumb to the innumerable old age diseases. And we will not have to be dependent on others.
According to some famous scientist, the first person living after 1000 years from now could be alive today. It could be one of you! The average of man will definitely be more than 1000 years then. Some of the the humans will be living more than 2000 years!. And some others dying just at an young age. People will be dying even then by crossing road carelessly or by snake bites or under the attack of deadly strains of viruses unknown to us now.
