Will
man be
religious in 3000? Will there be any place for
gods then? In order to speculate on this we have to know a little about how these concepts got implanted into man’s mind. Those who are interested may go through my articles on religion in shvoong
Just a sentence or two here would suffice, I think. Religion and magic has always been with man in some form or other ever since he started to live in societies. In the course of centuries he deified nature-phenomena-in anthropomorphic forms-- discovered an after life for spirit( that which is gives life to a living obvioulsy absent in a scorpse), the so-called soul, and very elaborate religious ceremonies for its happy after life.
Later monotheism evolved in parallel with the evolution of emperors and kings. Even now religion is going somewhat strong although the number of ardent adherents is coming down in in the advanced or educated societies. (I do not forget all efforts are still being done to convert people inot Christianity in the poor nations. There is ageneral deccline in
religions like Christianity.
It is not easy to erase off something which has been programmed into his brain for so many years. Our brains act like a computer very often. As a computer follows the commands of written program, human brain simply prod to beahve as per the conditioning received from early childhood and from all the past. And asll efforts are done even now to condiin the brains of the youngs ones withut which I believe there will be very real believers ni any religion.
But of late it is becoming very clear to most of the independent thinkers that man created religions and gods. Thousands of years of programming will take centuries to be fully erased. The religious notions will stay with mankind due to this reason fro some more time. But belief in gods and an after life is being questioned in every quarters.
Religions which have undergone all the
different phases –birth, early difficult period, fast spread, growing in power and wealth, a tyrannous phase will have to
decline. Christianity has undergone all these. Now it is ine declining phase.
Islam is still in the state of Christianity of the middle ages. It has tmeporal and spiritual power. It has got many more years before the climbdown.
Buddhism is more or less like the Christian Faith.
Religions will not be influencing man in 3000. There could be religious places just like places of interest. There can also be some rituals being observed which serve some social purpose say, as a meeting place for all. Otherwise no one may care about them.
Naturally there will be fewer conflicts on this account. And of course less wars. Nations may not be divided on religious lines. Nobody will be taking oath in the name of god. Politicians will have to find new ways to canvass the people’s goodwill.
There can be mushrooming of altogether different sects. Like the one of Acharya Rajneesh of India………or on totally different purposes.
Brain would take the place of Gods. There will be an all out efforts to tap its potential powers. Read more on such thoughts on Life after 1000 Years -4
