that every cell of an organism has its DNA which, in totality, reigns the whole system. Genetics, as we all know is the study of the genetic material viz., the DNA. Toxicology - is the study of the toxic / harmful/ undesirable effects caused by a
chemical , radiations ,etc. The congregation of these two fields of science, which
studies the effect of a chemical and other factors on the DNA is termed Genetic Toxicology . Such studies are mandatory when a chemical enters the preclinical screening phase.

1.if a compound is capable of interacting with the DNA
2.if a compound can cause damage to the hereditary molecule
3.if it is likely to cause cancer (Predictive analysis)
These details will help us classify a chemical into one of
the risk categories putforth by various Scientific bodies which set out standards.
