Decision-making has two aspects: an optimal allocation of scarce resources among large numbers of competing activities, and
uncertainty. As no one has a complete knowledge of the future, so projections are made based upon experience and previous practices looking the domain problem through different angles. The domain considered technical
feasibility of capital investment in agro-based industrial sector using Expert System’s technology. AIES (Agro-based Industrial Expert System) enables users to determine the proper feasibility assessment for
installation of agro-industries, which considers economic, financial, legal, technical, marketing and environmental feasibilities. AIES have the ability to assess not only numerical data but also the qualitative and uncertain facts. In the present study only technical feasibility of agro-based industries is being considered in detail. Agro products are used for many rounds in industries and have both backward and forward linkages with other sectors of the economy. Installation of agro-based industries in countries where agriculture is the mainstay of their economies is the best alternative for faster economic growth and poverty alleviation. This system may be extended to any type of industry and to any long-term investment problems. Human behaviors and natural phenomena are suggested to be included as qualitative facts in analyses of investment in the problem domain as a further research.
