Thrones – Galgalin/Ophanim/Wheels, they are the sixth order of angels in the second angelic choir. Sometimes, they are thought to be the actual wheels in God’s chariot (Merkabah), described as four wheels with numerous eyes glowing with divine light, thus they are often referred to as ‘many-eyed.’ They are beings of incredible power and movement. They are the keepers of higher and more lingering energies of the universe. They ensure that these energies maintain relations and course through all realms. They act as the conduits of the physical worlds and tend to be more stationary in their existence. In known texts, they are said to be the bringers of justice, but their position in the angelic hierarchy is often confused, sometimes placing them above the Seraphim, and sometimes placing them alongside in power with the Cherubim. They do, however, come in the second choir, have dominion over the planets, contemplating divine judgments and dispensing God’s justice with perfect objectivity over creation. They also send healing energies, mirroring goodness without any trace of pride or ambition. They are living symbols of God’s justice and authority, passing messages from God himself to men and other angels. They also symbolize stability. The known members of this angelic order are: Bodiel, Jophiel, Zaphkiel, Oriphiel and Raziel.
