Iin one thoelogy session ( while I was in the
seminary) one student asked the theology
professor:
" as god knows the future and past of every thing from all eternity does it not follow that he knows whether we will go to heaven or hell. Then what is the need for trying hard to follow the commandments of God and that of the church?"
No one in the whole universe can change what He knows from all eternity. If He undergoes a change, He is no more God. He is like any other perishable thing or being.
Again the learned
professor reflected for some time and he obviously saw the contradiction. But He could not go against the teachings of the Church. So he mildly but firmly told us:
Well, there is something called faith which cannot be questioned. Everything cannot be argued out by the limited intelligence of man.
“Well, is it not because the doctrine itself is erroneous?” the student persisted. “Could there r be a fundamental mistake?
Again the priest was a little annoyed at his helplessness.
If you want to question the doctrines of the Church, you do not deserve to be a catholic.
The whole class fell silent as there was a vague threat in his statement. After all many of the students were very poor and they could not go out of the
seminary. They could not survive.
