Public Speaking
Nobody is a born speaker. Anyone can acquire the ability. Intense desire, consistent efforts, lofty goals make one a great speaker.
Earlier, there were a number of rules for delivering a speech. Thundering oratory Was the norm.
Today no one appreciates such melodramatic gestures and thundering oration. You can
Speak as if you are conversing with your best friend.
There is no laid out rules for gestures, oratory, delivery or anything. It can be
informal and simple.
There is no need for bombastic
words and phrases and eloquent but lengthy sentences.
They all make a
speech highly artificial and devoid of life.
Public speaking is no opportunity for displaying your vocabulary or knowledge. Highly
formal speech has no place today.
You can speak like you do to a friend. Just
say whatever you want to clearly and orderly.
Of course any speech will have a certain format. There will be an Address, an introduction, a body of the speech and a conclusion.
Perhaps the only rule is that you talk from your
heart without artificiality.
Say what you believe and what you have experienced. Let your words come from heart.
