Fine uses of ATM
Two common mistakes made by ATM users are forgetting to take the money and leaving their cards behind. However, there are many other blunders you can make. Here are some points to take into consideration.
While you are
transacting do not allow others into the ATM booth or too close to you, not even the guard. If it’s a larger booth with more than one ATM, stand directly in front of the keypad to prevent others surfing your PIN
number from behind your shoulder.
Collect the money
immediately as it comes out, as it won’t stay longer on the tray. It can get retracted if you wait too long. After the
transaction, do not leave until the welcome message returns to the screen, otherwise someone else may help himself into your account
Never throw transaction slips unshredded in the booth’s waste basket. It may get into wrong hands you may reveal your bank balance and account number to thieves and risk identity theft.
Contact the bank immediately if your card doesn’t work or if it gets stucked or swallowed by the machine.
For your own safety, avoid using a secluded ATM alone and especially at night as it is high-risk time for crimes and theft. While transacting do not get involved in talks with anyone, concentrate on your task and make sure to take your cash and your card.
If you have pressed any wrong key press CANCEL immediately to get your card back so that you can transact again correctly. If you have made mistakes for two times consecutively, stop transacting at once. If you have any problem in transacting contact your bank immediately.
