Healthy food vs. fast food
In modern world pollution, stress and hectic way of life are main threats to our health.
Unfortunately, many people combine this ‘deadly mixture’ with bad
nutrition. Instead of healthy food- fast foods are growing in popularity becoming simply ubiquitous. Such striking unawareness has serious and often irreversible bearing on society’s well-being. This is best illustrated by the increasing rate of nutrition related diseases. For the same reason it is crucial for people to realize that healthy dieting is part and parcel of healthy organism and that fast-foods should not constitute the diet of any person that considers health important.
When compared healthy food and fast-food, except for the fact that they both fall into category of food, are as different as chalk and cheese. Two the most striking differences are
nutritious ingredients and caloric intake. Fast-foods are generally high in calories, while healthy food contains significantly less of them .Consequently if we compare regular candy-bar and protein bar it will be prove beyond all doubts that the prior has nearly three times more calories than the latter. The difference is even more striking when nutritious ingredients are compared. Healthy food (such as salads, fruit and home made meals) have vitamins, minerals, proteins and many more elements that are essential to well-functioning organism. Fast-foods, on the other hand, are rich in fat, carbohydrates and artificially manufactured ingredients but are lacking substantial vitamins and minerals. As a result of they simply fail to provide organism with what it needs.
Another difference between fast-food and healthy food is constituted by the influence they have on our organisms. Nearly 70% of all diseases are caused by bad nutrition. Obesity, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disorders could have been avoided, if the organism was provided with proper nutrition. Fast-foods, by failing to satisfy basic needs of an organism, are increasing its lacks of nutritious elements which in turn results in weakening of bones, slowing down of digestion and increasing susceptibility to diseases. Healthy food, in turn, has proteins to built cells, calcium to built strong bones and vitamins to reduce stress.
Last but not least difference is the way our general well-being is affected. By eating healthy food an organism is provided with all necessary elements and consequently has a better effectiveness than the one fed with fast-food. People that eat properly are more energetic and positive towards life than those eating badly. Tiredness and problems with concentration also cease to bother people eating nutritious meals.
All in all, to live healthy we should not only lead active way of life but also diet properly. That is why fast-foods should be reduced or completely crossed out from menu of any person that considers health important. Only healthy food can allow us to lead happy, long and energetic life.
