Breast cancer is a growth of malignant uncharacteristic cells inside the
Breast. It can be treated as a group of diseases, develops in the ducts, lobules and or other parts of the breast. About 32 percent of female cancer patients are affected by breast cancer and acts as second cause of death due to cancer in women. But latest developments in medical technology and research has reduced the mortality rate to a significant level.
Early diagnosis of the disease helps in the treatment and that also makes the disease less violent. Normally average women tend to examine their breasts often due to the fact that they are aware of the breast cancer. The presence of breast cancer can be easily detected by a test called mammogram. Women always do the examination of their breast even in between mammograms. The awareness regarding this disease helps a lot in preventing it from growing further. Developing nations and developed nations can have a sigh of relief because of this growing awareness.Breast cancer may also
spread to distant
organs of the body, due to the fact that early stage mammograms doesnot reveal the presence of the disease and the disease hardly shows any symptoms during early stages. The symptoms may vary from organs to organs if the disease has spread in the early stages and will never lead to a conclusion that the basic form of disease is breast cancer. For example if the cancer has spread to the bone the woman may develop bone pain.
Biopsy is also used for the diagnosis of breast cancer. An abnormality in the mammogram leads to biopsy. Sometimes the feeling of a lump in breast by a physician can be enough cause for biopsy. Biopsy is the procedure by which a small part of the breast tissue from the affected part is removed surgically and examined under the microscope. Sometimes the abnormality may be a non-invasive breast cancer or so called carcinoma in-situ. Treatment for breast cancer is available but is not much effective. So most of the physicians prescribe
surgery. In countries like India, Ayurveda treatment yields better result. Surgery options are several and the surgeon may choose the type to be used as per the diagnosis and the size of the tumor. Surgical options range from the breast-sparing lumpectomy to the rarely used radical mastectomy, which removes the breast, the chest muscles and nearby lymph nodes. Surgery is often accompanied by additional treatments, such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy or biological therapy. These therapies destroys the malignant cells and prevents it from spreading to other parts.
