Four fashion weeks in a year and still the enthusiasm doesn't seem to be dying down. Though the Indian fashion fraternity
has been divided into two groups — the Wills Fashion Week and Lakme Fashion Week — the competition only seems to be getting tougher.
Designers are getting more innovative and unique with every fashion week.
Last year's tug-of-war between Lakme Fashion Week and India Fashion Week, brought to the surface already existing tensions between Delhi and Mumbai designers and between the old guard of designers and a new generation. There was a lot of experimentation at the LFW last year but after its success, the one thing everyone is focusing on this year, is doing good business.
Lakme Fashion Week is all set to begin next week. The event will see an impressive line up of 43 designers, which include 16 well-known Indian designers and 4 international designers, 14 emerging designers and 5 designers from the ‘GenNext’. After last year's array of film stars walking the ramp and wardrobe
malfunctions we will only have to wait and watch to see what these 41 designers will showcase this year.
Last year LFW was flush with filmstars and wardrobe malfunctions, and with many new entrants in this fashion week, the concerns about malfunctions have only risen. The organisers however do say that a full quality check has been done this year and as far as the filmstar guest list goes, it’s only going to get bigger.
