Scientific Knowledge and the Bible

Book Summary   by:sarywary     Original Author: ESB
ª

Many scientists consider that it is not possible to reconcile scientific knowledge with the belief in the Bible. Throughout many years it has been asked if the two are compatible. However, with the passing of time some have been completely convinced that the scriptures are in harmony with scientific facts. How have they come to this conclusion? They have made use of their scientific knowledge to try and discredit its teachings. For example, they have realized that the Bible account of the creation is much more accurate than they thought. They admit the Bible does not contradict scientific fact about life on earth. Nevertheless some are still sceptical of its teachings. Recently, with the objective of finding mathematical contradictions, Doctors of Nuclear Physics have been impressed by the logical information that the Bible contains. They have proved mathematically the prophecy of the Bible book of Daniel chapters 4 and 9 referring to the arrival of Jesus as Messiah and King. Many think that faith in God is based more in emotion than reason. The scientific investigation hasn’t ever found a scientific fact that contradicts a Bible teaching. Often the apparent discrepancies are due to a lack of knowledge rather than scientific criteria, or what the Bible really says.
For example, some scientist and others mistakenly believe that the scriptures teach that plants, animals and human beings appeared on the earth during a period of six literal days of twenty-four hours. But the Bible does not say this. It indicates rather that the duration of these creative "days" is thousands of years. Also confusion arises because of the mistaken idea that faith in God is nothing more than an emotional experience. But the facts are that faith in God and in the scriptures are based on facts that can be verified. According to the Bibles definition “Faith is the assured expectation of the things hoped for, the evident demonstration o convincing evidence of realities although not contemplated"; Hebrews 1:1. In effect, faith is founded in evidence. Hundreds of prophecies have already been fulfilled in the past and in our day. Therefore, even applying the scientific criteria used in the science field to establish a theory, we can have full confidence in the fulfilment of Bible prophecies about the future.
