Yin and Yang

Book Abstract by: Hercy Santos

Original Author: Hercy Santos
The Chinese Medicine (CM) is not only based in the acupuncture, they use other treatment as medicinal herbs, exercise, balance
through the food, moxa, massage and other means that aim the body balance. For us, western doctors, the acupuncture is that really éimpar and do not have anything in our similar therapeutic arsenal to these treatment forms. To understand the cure concept in CM, we have to conceive an IQ concept”, that there is no parallel in the western medicine. IQ corresponds to a beings' alive own phenomenon, be them plants or animals, that has the capacity of maintaining life. For example: When there is a bony fracture, the doctor does the bone alignment and immobilizes it. The organism “knows how to regenerate the bony. That mechanism that is own of alive beings is what CM denominates IQ; If we cut a tree, if life still exist, it will regenerate. The Qi is resultant of two elements that there are in the universe as one all: Yin and Yang. When observing the nature, the Chinese old deduced that everything in the universe has two polarities: Yin that could consider the negative polar region and Yang, who would be the positive polar region. There is not a connotation of good or bad, they are nature phenomena polarities that are related mutually and that if complementary Yin cannot be without Yang and the opposite also is true. They are extreme, opposite polar regions but inside yin and of yang is included its opposite part, in other words, inside the nature yang, is yin. There is a cyclic and continuous action of these two elements: When Yin arrives to his maximum potential starts to to be transform in Yang. A clear example of this concept would be compare Yin as being Night and Yang as being Day. The day there cannot be without night, they make part of the same phenomenon, and they are one complement. When night arrives to your maximum potential, midnight, yin starts to transform itself in Yang (day); this to the reach your limit (midday) starts to transform itself in Yin; Thus cycle is kept. Among ends (midnight and midday) there are the intermediary phases. We also could exemplify with year's phases, when the winter would be yin and the summer yang. With intermediary phases. With that knowledge knew when they plant and the time to harvest . Looking for nature, the Chinese old gave origin to the philosophy Taoist that, of pragmatic form, served to interpret everything in universo. Tao, the Universe is formed by two opposite parts, yin and yang that have as law: The contradiction, the interdependence, the growth, the decrease and the mutation among them. All has opposite polarities and interdependentes. In the alive organism, if yin if separate of yang, finishes life. The food is yin (matter) the metabolism is yang (energy). The unbalance between yin and yang generates disease, that action exists in the body, Without nutritious substance do not produce energy (ATP). Without energy cannot obtain yin that comes of to nutrition. Whether occur yin predominance or of yang because of some factors, there are as a consequence physiologic alterations that are transformed in pathological process between Yin's Disharmony and of Yang. Yin's Deficiency it presents with heat in the body, yang agitation and deficiency presents cold corporal, adinamia. As diseases, for more complicated than are, their manifestations clinicas will belong to yin disharmony and of yang, could synthesize in syndromes yin or syndromes with characteristic yang. Whether in the skin inspection there is clear or red color, it indicates yang, if you are opaque and pale color is yin. If the voice is high, strong, indicates yang, if the voice is low and weak breathing, indicate yin; If the pulse is accelerated, strong has characteristic yang; The pulse filiform, weak, slow has characteristic yin. For of treating for hiperatividade of yang due to yin deficiency have to have techniques to nurture yin and to calm yang. Finally, we have to sedar the excess and toigorate the deficiency with the purpose of changing the abnormal and to recover the balance state Yang and Yin.
