NUTRITIOUS DIET:”PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE”
AS this is a famous saying “PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN
CURE”
means instead of falling ill and consulting doctor for
various health problems
; It would be better to take a nutritious diet. So it
is
important to know the concept of Nutritious Diet.
Nutritious diet promotes health and reduces the risk
for
death or disability. It has been found in surveys that
changes in the dietary can reduce the cancer deaths.
Unfortunately, poor eating habits are usually
established
during childhood And it has been seen that more than 60
percent of young people eat too much fat, and less than
20
percent eat the recommended servings of fruits and
vegetables. Fruits and vegetables top the charts of
nutritious diet as Fruits and vegetables provide
essential
vitamins and minerals, fiber, and other substances that
are
associated with good health.
Low fat diets rich in fiber-containing grain products,
fruits, and vegetables may reduce the risk of heart
disease
and some types of cancer. Milk products provide
protein,
vitamins and minerals and are the best source of
calcium.
However, calories and little else is provided by fats,
oils, and sweets and should be used sparingly.
Drinking enough water is also essential for body as it
keeps it hydrated and helps in converting food into
energy,
carrying nutrients through the body, and removing waste.
Eating a low-fat diet high in produce, whole grains,
and
dairy products cuts the risk of cardiovascular
diseases,
cancer and diabetes as well. Not only that it also has
positive impact on arthritis, asthma, cataracts,
cognitive
impairment and macular degeneration of the eye.
Even with a nutritious diet, there must be these
essentials
i.e. Calcium Vitamin D Vitamin B12 Vitamin E and
supplements. Getting enough calcium helps prevent
osteoporosis and consequently, reduces fractures. It
may
help lower blood pressure.
Vitamin D improves the absorption of calcium. It may
help
prevent arthritis and certain cancers. Vitamin B12
deficiency can cause serious neurologic disorders. Even
borderline low levels have been tentatively linked with
increased risk of cardiovascular disease, certain
cancers,
depression and cognitive impairment.
A study of dietary intake of some thousands of women
showed
that those with the highest intake level of a variety
of
foods recommended dietary guidelines by dietician had
lower
death rate from all causes compared to those with the
lowest level of intake.
Foods scored as desirable included frequent servings of
fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, whole grains, lean
meat
and poultry. Deaths from cancer and cardiovascular
diseases were especially reduced in those who obtained
more
of their calories from these foods, compared to others
who
consumed a less nutritious diet.
So we can sum up that Nutritious diet is the solution
of
all problems.
