Many of the party goers take more then one drug or combine it with alcohol, causing much grater damage to their health. Usually the effect of taking one tablet of ecstasy last between 3 to 6 hours. The effect takes place at about 15 minutes from taking it when the MDMA reaches the blood stream and the brain. The peak of the effects is felt after 45 minutes and then the effects start to subside (unless another tablet is taken).
It takes only one tablet to feel the after effects: feelings of sadness anxiety depression and sometimes even memory loss, this can take up to a week to pass. When you take the tablet you can fell very alert and hyper-active, you have the power to dance for hours. You can also experience perception changes for example in your sense of touch. Other users can feel nervousness and anxiety they can fell very hot or cold and also dizziness some even pass out. Users can dehydrate from being over active in a hot environment. Excessive drinking of water is also dangerous with ecstasy because of an increase in the manufacturing of a hormone that inhibits urination; fluids can build up in the brain and cause edema. taking ecstasy in higher doses with the meaning of keeping the "high" feeling can interfere with the natural cooling system of the body, that in turn can cause serious kidney, liver, and heart problems and even lead to death .study's on animals show that MDMA is toxic to the central nervous system, because of the risk it wasn't tested on humans
Long term damages - we don't know for sure what are the long turn damages or if they are reversible if ecstasy is not taken anymore. study's preformed on monkeys who were given mdma for 4 days show that they had brain damage that lasted for 6-7 years, on the same study researchers discovered that some nerve fibers grew back but not always at the damaged area.
