Web Semantics and Concept Navigation

Book Summary   by:Csolz     Original Author: Ankur Kaul
ª

Web Semantics is the most futuristic view of the web where the search will not be for the keywords but for meaning.

The basic idea of web semantics is
to lead the web towards a new world of semantics rather than syntax. Trying to
understand what a user means when he/she enters a keyword or a key-phrase. And
try to search the internet on the basis of that meaning. This includes:

Indexing on the basis of
semantics or Semantic Indexing.

Development of an automated
crawler or spider which will be a program that will spider the internet
periodically on the basis of semantics and then add, edit or delete in the
index accordingly.

Concept Navigation: This idea suggests that navigation can again
be made on the basis of concepts.

The idea basically is to
anticipate the futuristic web and develop a system which is powerful
enough and capable to crawl across the devices, languages and machines.
The development shall be based on the semantics making this system
platform independent. It will have the qualities of an intelligent machine
being able to spider, index and then later locate the correct information
on the basis of semantics.
