Warning: The Hydrogen Economy may be more Distant that it Appears

Book Abstract by: saundersluke

Original Author: Michael Behar
There are some serious problems with a hydrogen economy, and this article helps debunk the myths. First, hydrogen is an
abundant fuel, but it is not that common on earth, at least not pure hydrogen. It is found in compounds and must be seperated before it can be used. Also, seperating hydrogen takes energy, and where are you going to get that from. We would need to seriously revamp our alternative energy program. The United States does not produce nearly enough energy from renewable sources to support a hydrogen economy. There is not as much money going into research for hydrogen power. About 1.2 billion dollars a year are spent on hydrogen research and development. The monthly bill for the war in Iraq is 3.9 billion. The issue of hydrogen is not as important to our leaders as many of us think. Hydrogen will be a give and take technology. It may not be as conveniant as fossil fuels, at first anyway, and it will require development of alternative energy sources, but it will ultimately lead to a more stable and sistainable economy.
