Japan has been swallowing it since years now.
The United States of America,

presently trying it out in Washington and Chicago.

Smart card Systems, is the new buzz around here, and they are well on their way to revolutionize the way you travel anywhere in the world.
A small contact-less chip, which can be exposed to a suitable reader at the supplier/seller kiosk, is all that takes to complete your
transaction. What? You did not understand?
Well, presently you take your credit or debit card, swipe it, sign on a bill, and then wait eagerly to payup. Don't you? Only this time, you don't have to go through this mundane process. All you have to do , Ladies and Gentlemen, if you will, is to show our card (or) expose it at a distance of say, a few inches, from a digital reader and you have completed your transaction. I simplified it a bit, but the concept is almost like that.
This is presently in use for the public transportation systems in Japan, but now may other countries are following suit, including Denmark. A major advantage of incorporating this sytem is that fraud becomes almost impossible, and hence increases the public revenue.
