The radiobiological effects with regard to physiological and biochemical characters of dry Astragalus adsurgens Pall seeds
which were irradiated by 80MeV/u 12C6+ ion and 50 keV electron beams with different doses were studied in this paper. Experimental results show that the
germination potential of the samples irradiated by both carbon ions and electrons increases first and then decreases with dose, while their
germination fraction goes down gradually. In the samples irradiated by12C6+ ions, their activities of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase rise first and then decline, that means there maybe a peak in their change; their activity of catalase does not vary anymore when the irradiation fluence is more than 5×107ions/cm2. In the samples irradiated by electron with different doses, their activities of catalase, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase all go up first and then fall. Content of glutathione does not vary basicly with dose in whichever carbon ion irradiation or electron irradiation and there is not remarkable correlation between the content and dose. Based on these results, it is shown that many biochemical and physiological indexes of samples irradiated by carbon ions or electrons with different dose increase first and then decrease. However, the change of glutathione is not sensitive to carbon ions or electrons.
